Contour Shoes

4th graders warmed up for this project with a blind contour exercise - no looking! This exercise forces your eye to look even closer when drawing from observation because you cannot see your paper!

The vocabulary for this lesson was interior and exterior contour. Exterior contour being the edges that define a shape - and the space around it, and interior contour being any contours or lines inside of this shape.

First beginning with an exterior contour, then filling in with the interior, students took a closer look at the shoes they are wearing.
