What a great way to have an art project that combines spelling, math and learning about your students!...This was a hit!
I love Paul Klee's color blocks, and especially his piece with a stanza from a poem written inside the blocks, "Once Emerged From the Grey of Night".
I prepared wells of liquid watercolors in tertiary colors for each table to paint the squares in, after they wrote their names, and things that define them, or their favorite things in the rows with Sharpie pens. We all came up with a list and came up with a bunch of hilarious and unique things (see below).
