Andy Warhol Endangered Species

4th Grade chooses a complimentary pair of colors to discover what happens when you mix them together. We used Andy Warhol's prints from his Endangered Species Series for inspiration. These kids' talent blow my mind!

When we mixed out colors together, we learned that each complimentary pair has a "neutral", or a brown. Each brown is different with each pair. We showed the progression of mixing to achieve this neutral on value strips.

We used either our warm or cool color to paint the background - to show the mood of our animal, as we think of it. We used the darker valued for the shadows we observed in their colored handout I provided, and the lighter values for the light areas.

Great work :)
