3rd grade uses images of the grandeur, rhythmic and ornamented clothing worn in the Baroque period (c. 1600) as well as examples of elaborate designs used in architecture of this time period to draw a self-portrait of themselves. BUBB ART SHOW!

Bubb Elementary School

Bubb's Art Show was very fun for me - meeting parents, seeing reactions, hearing conversation. Unfortunately, Bubb's entire A4S program was not featured, as their program doesn't end until May. :( But! A truly amazing compilation.

Special thanks my MOM Brooke Miller, and to Annett Trail's phenomenal ability to organize volunteers to help us get the show on the road!

Gestural Figure Drawing

This week, 3rd grade learned how to draw their classmates using loose spirals which is taught in high school and college! It was very fascinating to observe how each student has a unique line drawing style. It was also beautiful to know that young people are so incredibly capable of much more advanced approaches to drawing from observation.

This is round 2 of the 2nd grade Shape lesson. After some practice getting the hang of the procedure in the first round, you can view it here, these Male Western Tanager's came out just as fantastic as the American Robin's and Buntings. The only difference is this group used a 2nd tree branch.

Concepts included were geometric shapes, overlapping shapes, ornamentation of shapes, and an introduction to 3-dimensional rendering of shapes.
