Van Gogh Starry Night

It has been such a blast spending time with the group of kids at LRD for art club! Van Gogh is a fun and relaxing lesson for kids of all ages.

This art lesson is based on the study of impressionism and light and that many different colors exist within what we see. Some artists from this time period would paint the same thing over and over at different times of day, different seasons of the year to study the light and the colors within what they see, and the variations.

We started with a traditional step-by-step to set up the initial compotion. LOVE the deviation from many students wanting to put their artistic touch by changing the composition or scene entirely. Lots of discussion on how to draw strokes to illustrste the weather using strokes; Maybe the weather is windy and stormy perhaps.
Really a great group of kids!

Again a HUGE THANKS to our class volunteer KAREN WILLIAMS and to LITO who helps me set up the heavy tables and chairs and keeps the rec room clean!
