2nd Grade draws overlapping cats, filled with various kinds of line patterns to show movement. Inspired by California artist Laurel Burch, these cats were having a party!
We looked at Laurel Burch's "Indigo Cats" for inspiration. We looked at how the cats are different sizes, and how they overlap each other. The idea was to fill the page with as many cats as we can! Even putting some upside down or peeking off of another cat's back. Even drawing kittens, huge fat cats, too.
Starting off with 1-3 bigger cats in the front, the class filled their paper with cats using black pen. We talked about how we can use line patterns to show movement, energy, and even using shapes to make patterns.
