Learning about Impressionism and how to paint/draw like an impressionist is a great skill to learn.We looked at the artwork by Van Gogh, "The Iris" and noticed the rainbow of colors that he has layered in his painting...colors you wouldn't expect to be there.
We started with a basic contour of the basic shapes we see. I had them try doing a couple of the flowers and/or leaves without looking (blind contour) which helped them loosen their experience.
