Lets make our lesson about Shapes, symmetrical shapes, asymmetrical shapes and patterns FUN.We looked around the classroom for symmetrical shapes and discussed what would be shapes that are not symmetrical.
We then folded 3 squares of paper in 1/2, and cut 3 symmetrical body parts that comprise a bug: head, abdomen and the thorax. The more difficult part were the legs, because they had to make so many of them. I showed them the same method of folding paper in 1/2, unfolding it, then cutting it in 1/2, to get 2 legs, repeat repeat repeat.
My classes were at ease with this project and a great one to try with different kinds of insects/bugs/animals.
