We looked around the classroom for symmetrical shapes and discussed what would be shapes that are not symmetrical.
We then folded 3 squares of paper in 1/2, and cut 3 symmetrical body parts that comprise a bug: head, abdomen and the thorax. The more difficult part were the legs, because they had to make so many of them. I showed them the same method of folding paper in 1/2, unfolding it, then cutting it in 1/2, to get 2 legs, repeat repeat repeat.
My classes were at ease with this project and a great one to try with different kinds of insects/bugs/animals.
