Sketching Class - Intro to Charcoal

Gradient strips are a great way to learn how to use a new material!

A Gradient stripe is and exercise for practicing using a new material by exploring how to create values.  In this case, we used graphite and charcoal pencil. The children had not used charcoal before (except for one student). We did 4 gradient strips using the hatching method of sketching. We will use what we learned to do a charcoal drawing of Fall pumpkins and leaves in the next 2 sessions so check back :)
